Great laundromat with A/C
I have been a customer of Demotte (Colonial) cleaners for 16 years. Overall, I really like their service. They have done alterations for me and done a very nice job dry cleaning. Once in a while, there might be a mistake just like with any business, but mostly, I have been treated with respect and the work has been fine. However, several weeks ago my husband and I realized one of his shirts had been shrunk. I dont normally complain when something comes back bad, but this was a new shirt and we had had three odd things happen in a row, so i wanted to let them know. When I told the manager about it - a woman with a very tight ponytail and straight cut bangs, I don't know her name - she proceeded to blame me for the shrinkage. She told me that I needed to make sure that these yellow tags were attached to the shirt if I wanted them dry cleaned and not laundered. It seemed funny to me, since that would be the job of the employee and not the customer. As a customer, I have no idea what their protocols are for labeling different things. So that seems to me that it would not be my fault. Then she proceeded to blame me for "wording it wrong." Now, my husband is lean and has long arms. I have diligently asked for his shirts to be dry cleaned for 16 years. I specifically say "dry cleaned and not laundered". As I have been asked several times about laundering and many times an employee will look at the tag and see that it says cotton on it and will think that it doesn't need to be dry cleaned. But I always say I want them "dry cleaned not laundered." Anyway, I know that its not my fault for the shrinkage as I am NOT the one who does the laundry or dry cleaning & I am the one who says dry cleaned not laundered and I am NOT the one responsible for putting a yellow tag on the shirt. However, this manager refused to listen to me. I wasn't asking for reimbursement for the shirt, I wasn't asking for anything. But I did want them to know that the shirt had been shrunk and they need to speak to employees about it. I have a small business and I understand that feedback like that is important. But she somehow got so offended that she would not listen to my words any longer.
After her comment, I was still light hearted, but I gave a little laugh and I said," you know it's kind of funny, I told my husband about the yellow tags that his shirts were supposed to have in order to get dry cleaned and not laundered, and he laughed and said he has never in his life taken off a yellow tag from his shirt in order to wear it. So I told the manager what he said and she got very rebellious at me. She raised her voice and told me if I didn't like it that I could take my things and leave. At this point, I did just that. I gathered all my stuff and left. After I walked out, I realized that I needed to give some feedback to the owner and not just this manager as she didn't seem to be doing her job very well and she did not treat me with the least amount of respect. So I walked back in, and asked for the owners name very calmly. She refused (finally told me - Mike)to tell me but said I could leave a message for him and she would make sure he got it. But why would I do that knowing how upset and how belligerent she was? How was I to be assured that my message would actually reach the manager at all? She refused to give his last name. Sadly, my only choice is to resort to a public forum and not private conversation, which was my goal in asking for his name. This manager needs training in customer servic
Today, I have 6 items to bring in, all for dry cleaning. When I walk in the manager is there. I lay the items out as I always do on the counter and ask for all of the items to be dry cleaned and not laundered. Then I say and I want yellow tags on all of these items. She says to me, "Since it's ME, you will get yellow tags". So what kind of manager is this that doesn't make sure that all the employees will put yellow tags on these items? Why would I only get yellow tags since it is SHE who takes my order? That comment throws any other employee under the bus.
My dad passed away right before prom. in the chaos is my daughters prom. the dress came back from being altered and it was wrinkled. I called Demotte Cleaners to see if I could get them to help me. it was very last minute. 2:30 on a friday the day before prom. Whomever answered the phone was so incredibly rude! I understand it is very last minute but the mock sympathy mixed with did you get the alterations here question really upset me. I did not know they did alterations and will make sure to NEVER get any work done there. or to NEVER give them any more of my business/money. After 20 + years of patronage I am done with them with one rude and mocking phone call. If you are sorry then you should act sorry, instead of mocking your customers! I understand an emergency on my part is not an emergency on your part.
hmmm I wonder when it is your turn and you need help? would you want to be treated that way? KARMA it bite you! Shame on you!
